Managing Information in the Public Sector: Shaping the New Information
Space
Previously hosted by the Office of the Chief Information and Privacy
Officer of Ontario,
we are proud to present this year's Managing Information in the Public
Sector:
“Shaping the New Information Space,” co-hosted and developed by:
* Office of the Chief Information and Privacy Officer of Ontario
* City of Toronto
* ARMA NCR
* Professional Learning Centre, Faculty of Information, University of
Toronto
* Ontario Government Libraries Council
* Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario
This event will be taking place on April 26-27, 2010 at the Metro
Toronto Conference Centre, focusing
on “Shaping the New Information Space”, a space that is constantly
changing. In order to meet the challenges of IM today and tomorrow
the various IM related communities across the Public Sector are
recognizing that they must expand their horizons and network of
resources
to achieve the potentially monumental task of Shaping their New
Information Spaces.
Currently, we are holding a Call for Submission for all interested
speakers to present at this year’s conference.
*All submissions must be received by January 15, 2010
Once all submissions are reviewed by the organizers, speakers will be
notified if they have been chosen.

EVENT DESCRIPTION
Building on the success from the last three events, which have collectively attracted over
1300 participants, this year’s iteration is opening its doors to the greater public service
across Ontario and Canada by instituting a “Community Based” approach to the
development of the learning program.
Originally hosted by the Office of the Chief Information and Privacy Officer of Ontario,
this year we are pleased to announce that it will be co-hosted and developed by:
• Office of the Chief Information and Privacy Officer of Ontario
• City of Toronto
• ARMA NCR
• Professional Learning Centre, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto
• Ontario Government Libraries Council
• Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario
The focus for this year’s conference will be “Shaping the New Information Space”, a
space that is constantly changing. In order to meet the challenges of IM today and
tomorrow the various IM related communities across the Public Sector are recognizing
that they must expand their horizons and network of resources to achieve the potentially
monumental task of Shaping their New Information Spaces . Taking a “community based”
approach to the development of this event will:
• Improve overall content
• Increase potential learning/professional development opportunities for
participants
• Increase networking opportunities, especially outside of one's current
organization
• Ensure events such as this remain financially accessible for participants
Through industry experts’ presentations and discussions of real life scenarios, a clearer
vision of issues, methodologies, solutions and opportunities will be revealed.
